Our History

Triumph of the Cross Parish stands as a living testament to the power of unity in the Body of Christ. In the mid-2000s, six Catholic parishes in the city of Steubenville came together to form one new parish community. This merger, formalized around 2005 and completed with the closing of the individual church buildings on June 8, 2008, allowed us to pool our resources, talents, and faith to continue proclaiming the Gospel more effectively in our changing times.

The six founding parishes—each with its own cherished history, traditions, and devoted people—now live on in the life and mission of Triumph of the Cross:

  • Holy Name Cathedral
  • Holy Rosary Church
  • St. Stanislaus Church
  • St. Anthony Church
  • St. Pius X Church
  • Servants of Christ the King

Though the individual buildings of most of these parishes have closed, their spirit endures in every liturgy, ministry, and act of charity here at Triumph of the Cross.

Our parish name, Triumph of the Cross, reminds us that through Christ's saving sacrifice, division gives way to unity, and suffering leads to resurrection.
